eep in the early going. They had Crisp picked
It was a memorable night for the Franson brothers in their home province of British Columbia. http://www.airforcescarpe.it/air-force-o...6-610.html . After Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Cody Franson had his number honoured by the Vancouver Giants prior to game time, younger brother Cain Franson went out and scored once and set up another as the Giants defeated the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings 6-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action. Cody, who played for Vancouver between 2002 and 2007, was in attendance for the game and got to witness Cain score his 23rd goal of the season. Jordan Martinook scored twice for the Giants (35-21-3), who have now won three games in a row, while Matt Bellerive, Brendan Gallagher and Jackson Houck added single goals. Tyler Maxwell and Rhett Rachinski each scored for the Oil Kings (38-14-7). Adam Morrison made 28 saves for the win as Laurent Brossoit turned away 27 of 32 shots before leaving the game in the third period. Tristan Jarry came in for the final nine minutes and allowed one goal on two shots in relief. Vancouver failed to score on three chances with the man advantage while Edmonton went 2 for 4. Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Moose Jaw 6, Medicine Hat 0; Saskatoon 7, Swift Current 3; Brandon 6, Prince Albert 1; Kootenay 4, Spokane 3; Lethbridge 6, Regina 4; Red Deer 3, Kamloops 2; Calgary 7, Kelowna 1; Victoria 4, Prince George 2; Portland 4, Everett 1 and Tri-City 5, Seattle 2. At Vancouver, Gallagher opened the scoring at 10:16 of the first period and Cain followed him up at 15:43 to give the Giants a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes of play. Maxwell and Rachinksi each scored a power-play goal for the Oil Kings to tie the game at two apiece but Bellerive regained the lead for Vancouver at 16:45. The Giants then scored three consecutive goals in the third period to secure the victory. Martinook scored at 11:05, Houck followed him up at 11:49 and finally Martinook added one more at 17:19. --- Warriors 6 Tigers 0 At Moose Jaw, Sask., Luke Siemens made 22 saves and the Warriors (37-15-6) scored five power-play goals en route to blanking Medicine Hat (35-20-4). --- Blades 7 Broncos 3 At Saskatoon, Darren Dietz scored four goals, including two that were 29 seconds apart, as the Blades (35-23-1) snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Swift Current (21-32-6). --- Wheat Kings 6 Raiders 1 At Brandon, Mark Stone scored once and set up four more and Michael Ferland had two goals and an assist as the Wheat Kings (31-26-3) handed Prince Albert (18-36-4) their seventh straight defeat. --- Ice 4 Chiefs 3 At Cranbrook, B.C., Joe Antilla and Max Reinhart had a goal and two assists each as Kootenay (32-18-8) edged Spokane (31-19-7). --- Hurricanes 6 Pats 4 At Lethbridge, Alta., Brody Sutter scored twice and added an assist as the Hurricanes (23-36-1) halted Reginas (30-23-6) three-game winning streak. --- Rebels 3 Blazers 2 At Kamloops, B.C., Charles Inglis scored the winning goal and added an assist as Red Deer (26-26-5) defeated the Blazers (41-13-4), who lost for the first time in six games. --- Hitmen 7 Rockets 1 At Kelowna, B.C., six Calgary players recorded a multi-point game and Chris Driedger made 22 saves as the Hitmen (34-22-3) crushed the Rockets (24-27-8), who have now dropped six games in a row. --- Royals 4 Cougars 2 At Victoria, Jamie Crooks and Steven Hodges had a goal and an assist each as the Royals (18-34-6) snapped a five-game losing skid by defeating Prince George (18-36-2). --- Winterhawks 4 Silvertips 1 At Everett, Wash., Ty Rattie scored his 45th goal of the season as Portland (39-15-3) beat Everett (15-33-9) for its fifth straight victory. --- Americans 5 Thunderbirds 2 At Kent, Wash., Brendan Shinnimin and Connor Rankin had two goals apiece as Tri-City (39-15-3) downed division rival Seattle (20-35-2). http://www.airforcescarpe.it/superstar-2...65478.html . On Jan. 30 Bryan Colangelo acquired Rudy Gay in a three-team trade, jettisoning Ed Davis and the expiring contract of starting point guard Jose Calderon. Since then, Torontos most consistent area of weakness has been moving the ball. http://www.airforcescarpe.it/uomo-nike-a...8-047.html . "There are two things in baseball that never change: history and numbers," said Cromartie, who is spearheading a drive for Montreal to get a Major League Baseball team. "Montreal, we have the history for baseball in this town.MIAMI -- Steve Cishek said he felt fine even though he pitched poorly. The Miami Marlins closer rubbed his left shoulder several times between pitches during a dismal ninth inning Friday night, but he declined to blame any health issues after giving up four runs in a 9-5 loss to the Oakland Athletics. "I just didnt get the job done," Cishek (4-3) said. The right-hander retired only two batters while giving up five hits, including a single by Yoenis Cespedes that scored the go-ahead run thanks to a replay reversal. The Marlins trailed 4-0 but took a 5-4 lead into the eighth. They fell to 28-1 when leading after seven innings. With the score 5-all, Coco Crisp singled off Cishek to start the ninth and took second on Alberto Callaspos single. When Cespedes followed with a single, right fielder Giancarlo Stanton made a strong throw home, and Crisp was ruled out at the plate. After a review that took 3 1/2 minutes, the called was overturned, giving the As a 6-5 lead. Josh Donaldson hit a sacrifice fly for his third RBI, and Stephen Vogt and Josh Reddick followed with run-scoring singles. "With Crisp, that was a great job of hitting by him," Cishek said. "For some reason, things just unraveled after that. I thought I made good pitches, but once it got later the pitches stayed up, the slider was flat, and they were very comfortable." Cisheks ERA rose from 1.93 to 2.97. "It just wasnt his night tonight," manager Mike Redmond said. "He has been so good for us." Reddick had three of the Athletics 16 hits, including a two-out RBI triple that tied the game in the eighth. Luke Gregerson (2-1) pitched around a one-out double by Jeff Mathis in a scoreless eighth. Oaklands Jesse Chavez took a 4-0 lead into the sixth but couldnt get another out. Stantonss leadoff single was the first of five consecutive hits, and Donovan Solano greeted Dan Otero with an RBI double before pinch-hitter Jeff Bakers run-scoring single put Miami ahead. http://www.airforcescarpe.it/nike-nere-r...8-070.html. . Stanton, Casey McGehee and Garrett Jones had two hits apiece for the Marlins, who lost despite going 6 for 10 with runners in scoring position. Marlins rookie right-hander Anthony DeSclafani left the game after three innings with a bruised right forearm, putting further strain on a bullpen already taxed by a 14-inning loss at Philadelphia on Thursday. DeSclafani was hit in the arm by a line drive in the first inning by Brandon Moss that went for an infield hit, and his status is day to day. He said he expects to be able to throw on the side Saturday. He allowed two runs in three innings, leaving him with an ERA of 7.40 after five career starts. The Marlins arrived in Miami at 4:15 a.m. after the 14-inning loss at Philadelphia on Thursday, and they played as if short on sleep in the early going. They had Crisp picked off midway between first and second in the fourth inning, but when first baseman Jones glanced at another baserunner, Crisp ducked past him and got back to first. "Thats two pretty tough losses," Redmond said. "Thats pretty frustrating the way weve been losing games." NOTES: With the Marlins bullpen taxed by the marathon in Philadelphia, they recalled LHP Brian Flynn as a reinforcement and optioned INF Justin Bour to New Orleans. Flynn pitched three innings and allowed two runs, then was optioned back to New Orleans after the game. ... Callaspo batted second for the first time this season. ... The game was the Athletics first in Miami since 2003. ... Athletics RHP Sonny Gray (7-3, 2.91) is scheduled to start Saturday against RHP Nathan Eovaldi (5-3, 3.52).
